Remove the mounting nuts from the intake manifold and separate it from the engine.

To remove the intake manifold, start by relieving the fuel system pressure and disconnecting the negative battery cable. Then, drain the cooling system and remove the throttle body. Label and disconnect the vacuum and breather hoses and electrical wires, followed by removing the oil/air separator and the oil fill cap and dipstick assembly. Unbolt and detach the oil fill tube from the engine block. Remove the intake manifold brace and loosen the manifold mounting nuts/bolts. If necessary, use a soft-face hammer to dislodge the manifold from the cylinder head. For installation, ensure the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and manifold are clean and use a gasket scraper to remove old sealant and gasket material. Clean the mating surfaces with lacquer thinner or acetone. Chase the threads in the bolt holes with a tap and remove debris with compressed air. Position the gasket on the cylinder head, aligning all openings correctly. Install the manifold, being careful not to damage the gasket. Thread the nuts/bolts by hand and then tighten them in three steps. Finally, reverse the remaining removal steps, start the engine, and check for leaks at the intake manifold joints.
