Q:
How do you remove the Fuel Rail and Fuel Injectors on Chevrolet Trailblazer? Posted by Customer
A:
First, relieve the fuel system pressure and disconnect the negative battery terminal cable. Remove the intake manifold and ensure the fuel rail/fuel injector area is clean by using a degreaser or solvent, followed by compressed air to blow dry. Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line, fuel injector harness connector, and fuel line fittings. Remove the fuel rail attaching bolts and gently apply outward pressure to free it from the cylinder head. Disconnect the electrical connector from the injector(s) to be removed, remove the retaining clip(s), and take out the injector(s) from the fuel rail assembly, discarding the o-rings and seals. For installation, replace the injector o-rings, lubricate them with clean engine oil, and press the injector into the fuel rail until seated. Install the injector retaining clips and check the cylinder head injector holes for cleaning if necessary. The rest of the installation is the reverse of removal, tightening the fuel rail mounting bolts to the specified torque. After installation, turn the ignition switch On without operating the starter, cycling the ignition On and Off to check for fuel leakage in the fuel lines, fuel rail, and injectors.V8 Removal: Begin by relieving the fuel system pressure and disconnecting the negative battery terminal cable. Remove the air intake duct and resonator, and on 6.0L models, the upper intake manifold cover and mounting bracket. Disconnect any electrical connectors that may interfere with fuel rail removal, detaching the upper engine wiring harness and positioning it aside. Disconnect the accelerator cable and cruise control cable (if equipped) from the throttle body and position the cables aside. Clean the fuel rail/injector area with a degreaser or solvent and blow dry with compressed air. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors and remove the PCV valve and hose. Proceed to disconnect the fuel supply and return lines from the fuel rail, along with the fuel vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator. Clean any debris around the injectors, remove the fuel rail mounting bolts, and slightly loosen the crossover tube retaining screw on the right (passenger) side fuel rail. Gently rock the fuel rail and injectors to loosen them and remove the fuel rail and injectors as an assembly. Remove the retaining clip and take out the injector(s), discarding the o-rings and seals. For installation, replace the injector o-rings, lubricate them with clean engine oil, and press the injector into the fuel rail until seated. Install the injector retaining clips and place the injector and fuel rail assembly on the intake manifold, fully seating the injectors. Apply thread locking compound to the fuel rail mounting bolts and tighten them to the specified torque, then tighten the crossover tube retainer screw. Reconnect the fuel supply and return lines securely, and connect the electrical connectors to each injector. The rest of the installation is the reverse of removal. After installation, turn the ignition switch On without operating the starter, cycling the ignition On and Off to check for fuel leakage in the fuel lines, fuel rail, and injectors.
