Q:
How do you remove the stabilizer bar links, stabilizer bar bushing and stabilizer bar on Chevrolet Malibu? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the sway bar kit, start by loosening the rear wheel lug nuts and blocking the front wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Then, raise the rear of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands before removing the rear wheels. Next, remove the rear section of the exhaust system and the parking brake cables from the trailing arms. Remove the coil springs and the brake calipers without disconnecting the brake hoses. Mark the position of the subframe to the chassis and support the subframe with two floor jacks. Remove the subframe mounting bolts and lower the subframe slightly to access the sway bar kit bracket bolts. Detach the sway bar links from the bar and remove the sway bar kit, inspecting the sway bar bushings for any signs of damage. If the sway bar bushings are damaged, they should be replaced. To install the sway bar kit, lubricate the sway bar bushings with vegetable oil and replace all suspension fasteners with new ones, tightening them to the proper torque specifications. Finally, tighten the brake fasteners and the wheel lug nuts to the correct torque specifications.
