Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Set the engine to TDC for cylinder number one. Drain the engine oil. Remove the drivebelt. Remove the drivebelt tensioner from the front cover. Remove the engine front cover. Remove the valve cover. Remove the timing chain tensioner. Remove the upper timing chain guide. Remove the exhaust camshaft sprocket bolt. Remove the adjustable timing chain guide. Unscrew the access bolt and remove the fixed timing chain guide upper mounting bolt. Remove the fixed timing chain guide lower mounting bolt. Remove the intake camshaft sprocket bolt. Remove the timing chain through the top of the cylinder head. Remove the timing chain drive sprocket and slide the timing chain oiling nozzle off the engine block. Clean all parts with clean solvent and dry with compressed air. Inspect the chain tensioner for excessive wear or other damage. Inspect the timing chain guides for deep grooves, excessive wear, or other damage. Inspect the timing chain for excessive wear or damage. Inspect the crankshaft and camshaft sprockets for chipped or broken teeth, excessive wear, or damage. Replace any component that is in questionable condition. If the crankshaft has been rotated during this procedure, make sure the number one piston is at the top of its stroke. Install the intake camshaft sprocket onto the camshaft. Install the timing chain by lowering it from the top through the opening. Drape the timing chain over the crankshaft sprocket and engage the plated link on the chain with the crankshaft sprocket timing mark. Install the adjustable timing chain guide. Install the exhaust camshaft sprocket onto the camshaft. Install the fixed timing chain guide. Install the upper timing chain guide. Install a wrench onto the intake camshaft hex and torque the intake camshaft bolt. Install a wrench onto the exhaust camshaft hex and torque the exhaust camshaft bolt. Install the timing chain tensioner. Install the timing chain oiling nozzle. Apply a small amount of RTV sealant to the threads and install the timing chain guide access plug. Install the valve cover. Install the engine front cover. Reconnect the battery. Run the engine and check for oil or coolant leaks.
