In order to replace the crankshaft pulley, the vehicle should be lifted and support on jack stands, and then remove the under vehicular splash shield. Next involves the removal of the drive belt and in the case of the 1.5L engine the drive belt tensioner. Tap or lock the pulley so that it stops then proceed to remove the center bolt of the crankshaft pulley. Check condition of rubber damper segment of the pulley; retain old bolt for use in the initial phase of installation if necessary. To do this use a crankshaft pulley remover or you can also use a standard crankshaft processor puller with the exhaust U-bolts then shift the crankshaft pulley off the crankshaft. If you have max out the above procedures and you needed to replace the crankshaft front oil seal then go to the next step. New pulley apply clean engine oil on the hub, align it with the oil pump rotor and the crankshaft flat and insert it. Replacing a particular bolt by a new one, secure the pulley and again tighten the bolt up to the recommended torque setting. The process of installing is the reverse of removal process and at the last reconnect the battery. For crankshaft front oil seal replace, then you have to remove the crankshaft pulley, to use a seal removal tool to take out the old seal, clean seal bore and check for any damages. Apply clean engine oil on the lip of new seal and screw it into the bore till it sits on the cylinder head timing chain cover with the fully open side directed into the engine. Before fitting the crankshaft pulley make sure that the sealing surface of the crankshaft pulley hub is greased.

Remove the drivebelts and the splash shield.

Install the old crankshaft balancer bolt and tighten it to the specified torque.

Take out the crankshaft pulley bolts and the pulley itself.

This procedure requires a special pulley installation tool and a new crankshaft pulley bolt. Before starting, ensure you have these tools and materials ready.
