To remove the throttle body for the 3.2L V6 engine, follow these steps:Clamp off the coolant hoses connected to the throttle body.Disconnect the vent tube and coolant lines from the throttle body.Disconnect the electrical connector.Remove the throttle body mounting fasteners to detach it from the intake manifold.

Remove the air intake duct from the throttle body, open the throttle plate, and inspect the throttle body bore for carbon and residue build-up. If it is dirty, clean it with solvent or carburetor cleaner. Ensure that the solvent or carb cleaner is safe for oxygen sensor systems and catalytic converters. Note: The photos accompanying this depict the throttle body on a V6 model, but the throttle body used on VB models is virtually identical, except that it is mounted on top of the intake manifold instead of the front of the manifold. Remove the air intake duct. Pull out the lock, then depress the release tab and pull off the electrical connector for the throttle body (Disconnect the throttle body electrical connector). Remove the throttle body mounting fasteners (To detach the throttle body from the intake manifold, remove the four fasteners) and remove the throttle body. Remove the old throttle body O-ring gasket and discard it. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to use a new gasket and tighten the throttle body mounting fasteners. Start the engine, then verify that the throttle body operates correctly and that there are no air leaks.

Disconnect the electrical connector, remove the mounting fasteners, and discard the old gasket.

To remove the upper intake manifold, first disconnect the negative battery cable and relieve fuel system pressure. Disconnect various electrical connectors, including those for the EVAP canister purge solenoid and MAP sensor, and remove the PCV crankcase ventilation hose. Remove the upper intake manifold mounting bolts and throttle body mounting studs, and discard the old gasket. To remove the fuel pulsation damper, remove the retaining clip and pull it out of the Throttle Body, then discard the old o-ring. To remove the throttle body and injectors, remove the fuel supply line and various seals, detach the injector poppet nozzles, and remove the injector retainer nuts and retainer. Installation for all components is the reverse of removal, using new gaskets and o-rings where necessary and tightening fasteners to proper torque specifications.

Cover the intake manifold opening with a clean shop towel.

Install the throttle body and tighten the bolts.

Perform the idle relearn procedure, which varies depending on the model year.

Depending on the model year, the electrical connectors from the Throttle Position (TP) sensor and Idle Air Control (IAC) valve or Throttle Actuator Control (TAC) should be disconnected.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel meter body.

Start by removing the air intake duct and resonator.

Disconnect the electrical connector, remove the mounting fasteners, and discard the old gasket.

Start the engine and verify that the throttle body operates correctly and that there are no air leaks.

The remainder of the installation is the reverse of removal.

Use a new gasket and tighten the mounting fasteners to the torque specifications.

Remove the retaining clip and pull it out of the fuel meter body, then discard the old o-ring.

Remove the fuel supply line and various seals, detach the injector poppet nozzles, and remove the injector retainer nuts and retainer.

Use a new gasket and tighten the mounting fasteners to the torque specifications.
