Q:
How do I remove a Engine Cooling Fan and Fan Clutch on Cadillac Escalade? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove a 6.0L V8 engine, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, remove the plastic cover over the radiator support and partially drain the cooling system. Next, remove the air filter housing assembly and intake duct. Detach any hoses attached to the upper fan shroud and remove the upper fan shroud. Use a large wrench to remove the fan clutch retaining nut and detach the fan and clutch assembly from the engine. Remove the bolts securing the fan to the fan clutch. To install the engine, follow the reverse of the removal process, making sure to tighten all fasteners to the torque specifications and refill the cooling system. For a 4.3L V6 or 5.3L/6.2L V8 engine, start by draining the cooling system and removing the intake air duct and resonator assembly. Disconnect the upper radiator hose, expansion tank hose, transmission cooler lines, and engine oil cooler lines. Remove the fan shroud mounting bolts and disconnect any electrical connectors, hoses, or wiring harnesses attached to the radiator fan shroud. Lift the radiator fan/shroud assembly out of the engine compartment and separate the radiator fan motor(s) from the shroud. Install the fan motor mounting bolts, ensuring they are tightened securely. Confirm that the fan blade is correctly installed. Complete the installation by following the reverse of the removal procedure, tightening all fasteners securely, refilling the cooling system, and checking the engine oil and transmission fluid levels.
