Q:
How do you remove the throttle body for Chevrolet Express? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the throttle body, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, remove the engine cover and the air intake duct. Depending on the model year, disconnect the electrical connectors from the Throttle Position (TP) sensor and Idle Air Control (IAC) valve or Throttle Actuator Control (TAC). On older models, disconnect the accelerator cable and cruise control cable from the throttle body, and remove the accelerator cable bracket. On newer models, disconnect the coolant hoses and any vacuum hoses from the throttle body, checking for damage and replacing if necessary. Remove the throttle body mounting bolts/nuts, discard the old gasket, and clean the mating surfaces of the throttle body and intake manifold. To install, use a new throttle body gasket and reverse the removal steps, ensuring to tighten the mounting bolts to the specified torque.

A:
Remove the air intake duct from the throttle body, open the throttle plate, and inspect the throttle body bore for carbon and residue build-up. If it's dirty, clean it with solvent or carburetor cleaner. Make sure that the solvent or carb cleaner is safe for oxygen sensor systems and catalytic converters. Remove the air intake duct. Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle body. Remove the throttle body mounting fasteners and remove the throttle body. Remove the old throttle body gasket and discard it. Installation is the reverse of removal. Be sure to use a new gasket and tighten the throttle body mounting fasteners to the torque specifications. Start the engine, then verify that the throttle body operates correctly and that there are no air leaks.
