- Q:How to remove and install Parking Brake Cable? Posted by Customer
- A:To release the parking brake, start by removing the front cable. This can be done by removing the adjusting nut from the equalizer and disconnecting the cable. The rear end of the front cable and the front end of the rear cable are attached at a connector located just forward of the equalizer assembly. Next, slide the ball at the end of the cable out of the clevis on the parking brake pedal. To remove the rear cable(s), remove the adjusting nut at the equalizer and unhook the equalizer at the front end of the cable. Compress the conduit fingers, remove the mounting brackets, and pull the cable out. If you need to remove the rear brake drum(s), disengage the rear cable from the brake shoe operating lever, compress the conduit fingers, and withdraw the cable assembly from the brake backing plate. To reinstall, simply reverse the removal process.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
