How to remove the Ignition Coil on Buick Skylark? Posted by Customer
    A:
On L4 engines. remove the distributor cap. On L4 engines, label the spark plug wires as to their position on the cap and remove them. On V6 engines, remove the spark plug wire retaining ring from the top of the distributor. Remove the coil cover from the distributor cap. Note the position of each wire, duly marking them if necessary. Remove the coil ground wires then push the leads from the underside of the connectors. Remove the coil from the distributor cap. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure, but ensure that the leads are connected to their original positions. Damage to the control module and ignition coil can result if the leads are connected incorrectly.

    Q:
How to remove and install the Ignition Coil assembly in models of a distributor cap on Chevrolet Caprice? Posted by Customer
    A:
For models up to 1974, the operation requires the disconnection of the wires and two screws which boast of auto connection hence one is advised to label the wires before disconnecting them in order to reconnect them in their right order. For models from 1975 onwards, the process should be started by removing the battery wire and the harness connector which is fitted on the distributor cap. Then, Unscrew three screws to take away the cover of the coil, finally, take away the coil assembly which is fixed with four screws of the distributor cap. Some of the wires must be in a particular order and may be labelled accordingly before removing the coil ground wire and easing the leads from the underside of the connectors to remove the coil from the distributor cap. Installation is done in a backward order starting with leads being placed in their respective positions.

    Q:
How do you test the Coil-In-Cap for the 1987 Buick Century? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by removing the distributor cap and disconnecting the coil. Use an ohmmeter to check the resistance across the primary connections, ensuring it is close to zero. Then, test the resistance between the primary ground and the coil secondary connector, using both solid wire and dotted line connections. If the readings are infinite, the coil needs to be replaced.

    Q:
How can you test the coil in HEI systems for the 1994 Chevrolet Astro? Posted by Customer
    A:
To test the coil, you can measure the primary resistance between the TACH and BAT terminals, which should be nearly zero. If it's higher, the coil should be replaced. You can also measure the secondary resistance between the distributor cap rotor button and the TACH terminal and then between the rotor button and the BAT terminal. Both of these resistance measurements should not indicate infinite resistance; if they do, the coil should be replaced.
