Q:
How do you remove the Pushrod and Rocker Arm on 4.3L V6 engine for Chevrolet Avalanche,Silverado,Suburban,Tahoe and GMC Sierra,Yukon,Yukon Denali,Yukon XL? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the valve cover(s) from the cylinder head(s), begin by loosening and removing the rocker arms, storing them in marked containers along with the rocker arm support bars. Remove the pushrods separately to avoid mixing them up. During inspection, check each rocker arm for wear, cracks, and damage, as well as the rocker arm pivot area. Replace any worn or damaged rocker arms and ensure the roller bearings rotate freely. Inspect the pushrods for cracks, excessive wear, and bending. For installation, lubricate the pushrods and install them in their original locations, ensuring they seat completely in the lifter. Reinstall the rocker arm supports with the arrows pointing up and apply grease to the valve stems and pushrod ends. Place the rocker arms, lubricate the roller bearings, and tighten the rocker arm bolts evenly to the specified torque. Finally, start the engine and check for leaks and valvetrain noise.

Q:
How to remove the Pushrod and Rocker Arm on V8 engine for Chevrolet Avalanche,Silverado,Suburban,Tahoe,GMC Sierra,Yukon,Yukon Denali and Yukon XL? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the valve covers from the cylinder heads, first, remove the rocker arm pivot bolts one at a time and take out the rocker arms, bolts, and pivot support pedestal. Keep track of their positions and store them separately. Next, remove the pushrods and store them in order. For inspection, check each rocker arm for wear, cracks, and damage, as well as the pivot bearings for binding and roughness. Replace the rocker arm if the bearings are worn or damaged. Also, inspect the rocker arm pivot support pedestal for cracks. Ensure the hole at the pushrod end of each rocker arm is open and check the pushrods for cracks, excessive wear, and clogged oil holes. Install the pushrods in their original locations, lubricating them with clean engine oil or assembly lube. Apply engine assembly lube to the valve stems and pushrod ends to prevent damage. Apply clean engine oil to the pivot shaft and bearing of each rocker arm and loosely install them in their original locations. Rotate the crankshaft to TDC on the compression stroke for the number one piston and tighten the intake valve rocker arms for specific cylinders. Rotate the crankshaft 360 degrees and tighten the intake valve rocker arms for other cylinders. Finally, install the valve covers, start the engine, listen for unusual valve train noise, and check for oil leaks.
