Pry the shift cable from the pin to disconnect it from the manual lever.

The Park/Lock system is designed to prevent the shift lever from being moved out of Park unless the brake pedal is depressed simultaneously, and to prevent the ignition key from being removed from the ignition switch unless the shift lever is in the Park position.

Pull out the retainer lock, slide the retainer out, and pull off the connector.

To remove the actuator, the vehicle should be parked with the shift lever in Neutral, the parking brake set, and the airbag system disabled. The wiring should be disconnected, and the actuator pried off of the cable shift cam and steering column. The actuator should then be snapped onto the cable shift cam and steering column cover, and the wiring reconnected. The adjuster block should be pressed to disengage the internal teeth of the mechanism, and then slid away from the actuator as far as possible. To install the actuator, the tab should be pushed in to lock it in place, and the battery reconnected. The operation of the actuator should be checked by making sure that the lever can only be moved out of Park when the brake pedal is depressed, and readjusted if necessary. Finally, the knee bolster should be reinstalled.
