Chevrolet 19302787 Rear Shock Absorber Kit

Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the rear of the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands while blocking the front wheels to prevent rolling. Remove the wheel, then disconnect the electrical connector in the harness to the shock absorber if the model is equipped with electronic ride control. Support the lower control arm with a floor jack, and remove the nut and bolt attaching the lower shock mount to the lower control arm. Next, remove the bolts attaching the upper shock mount to the vehicle and disconnect the outer tie-rod end from the knuckle. Carefully remove the shock absorber, prying it up from the control arm if necessary to compress it for removal, taking care not to damage the wiring harness on models with F55 suspension. Inspect the shock for leaking fluid, dents, cracks, deteriorated bushings, or other signs of damage that may require replacement. For installation, ensure the connector is facing toward the center of the vehicle, and follow the reverse of the removal procedure, tightening the bolts to the specified torque while raising the outer end of the control arm with a floor jack to simulate normal ride height before tightening the lower mounting bolt and nut.
