- A:To remove the air conditioning system's accumulator, the system must first be discharged. The refrigerant inlet and outlet lines should then be disconnected and capped or plugged to prevent dirt or moisture from entering. The electrical connector from the AC low-pressure switch should also be disconnected, and the mounting bracket nut should be removed. The accumulator can then be maneuvered out of the engine compartment. To install a new accumulator, two ounces of fresh refrigerant oil must be added to the unit. The new accumulator should be placed into position in the bracket and installed onto the bulkhead. The inlet and outlet lines should be connected using clean refrigerant oil on the new o-rings, and the mounting nuts should be tightened securely. The electrical connector should be reconnected to the AC low-pressure switch. Finally, the system should be evacuated, recharged, and leak tested.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
