- A:To remove the control arm on the Metro, start by removing the ball stud bolt, followed by the control arm rear bracket. Then, remove the control arm front retaining nut and finally, remove the control arm itself. For the Sprint, begin by removing the ball stud bolt, followed by the control arm-to-body mounting bolt. Lastly, remove the control arm from the sway bar. To inspect the control arm, check for distortion and examine the bushings for wear, damage, and deterioration. If the control arm is distorted, replace it with a new one. If the bushings are damaged, an arbor press is needed to remove and install them. To install, reverse the removal steps.
