To troubleshoot an overheating engine with non-functioning radiator fans, start by checking the fuses for the fans. If the fuses are fine, proceed to disconnect the electrical connector for each fan motor and apply battery voltage to them using a fused jumper wire. If a fan motor doesn't come on, it needs to be replaced. If the fan motors are working properly, check the fan relays. Locate them in the engine compartment fuse/relay box and test them. If all the fuses, motors, and relays are functional, inspect the wiring and connections to the fan motors. For the replacement process, begin by removing the front bumper cover and draining the engine coolant. Disconnect the fan electrical connector and unclip the transaxle cooler lines from the shroud. Remove the air intake duct from the top of the radiator and the plastic shroud and air duct from the front of the air conditioning condenser. Disconnect the radiator hoses and unclip the automatic transaxle cooler lines from the fan shroud. Remove the upper condenser/radiator/fan module mounting brackets and lift the assembly from its lower mounts, tilting the radiator assembly forward at the top. Unbolt the fan assembly from the radiator and lift it from its lower clips, then pull the fan and shroud assembly out from between the radiator and the radiator support. To detach the fan blade from the motor, remove the motor shaft clip. Finally, to detach the fan motor from the shroud, remove the mounting screws. To install the new fan assembly, follow the reverse order of removal. Fill the cooling system with the appropriate mixture of antifreeze and water, and check for any leaks after the vehicle has reached normal operating temperature.
