To remove the engine oil cooler, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. The oil cooler is located near the left end of the intake manifold, at the transaxle end of the engine. Drain the cooling system and, if applicable, the intercooler cooling system. On 2.4L models, remove the underhood fuse/relay box. On 2.0L models, remove the oil pressure sensor next to the oil cooler. Disconnect the two coolant hoses at the top of the oil cooler and remove the three mounting bolts. Clean the area around the engine block where the cooler mounts, removing any debris or deposits. To install the oil cooler, use new O-rings lubricated with clean engine oil and attach it to the engine block. Connect the inlet and outlet coolant hoses and tighten the clamps. Complete the installation by reversing the removal steps, reconnecting the battery, refilling the cooling system, running the engine, and checking for leaks.
