A:
To remove and replace a transfer case seal on a vehicle, first raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the skid plate and, depending on which seal you're replacing, remove either the front or rear driveshaft. To remove the seal, simply pry it out with a screwdriver or seal removal tool, being careful not to damage the seal bore. When installing the new seal, lubricate the lips with petroleum jelly and drive it into place with a seal driver or large socket. The outside diameter of the socket should be slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the seal. Finally, reassemble the vehicle in the reverse order of removal.

Q:
How can a new oil seal be installed for the 2008 GMC Yukon? Posted by Customer
A:
A seal driver or large deep socket can be used to drive the new oil seal into the bore squarely and ensure it is completely seated.
