- A:To replace the CMP sensor, disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor. For inline engines, the sensor is located at the right front corner of the cylinder head. For five-cylinder engines, the intake CMP sensor is located near the front engine lifting bracket. Remove the camshaft position sensor mounting bolt and withdraw the sensor from the cylinder head. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure to install a new O-ring on the sensor before installation and lubricate the O-ring with engine oil.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist

- A:The Camshaft Position sensor operates similarly to the crankshaft position sensor. It works with the crankshaft position sensor to determine the timing for the fuel injection on each cylinder. For six-cylinder models, the replacement process involves disconnecting the electrical connector from the sensor, removing the camshaft position sensor mounting bolt, and withdrawing the sensor from the cylinder head. The installation process is simply the reverse of removal. For V8 models, the process is similar. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor, remove the camshaft position sensor mounting bolt, and withdraw the sensor from the engine block.
