- A:These engines have four CMP sensors which are located on the front of the cylinder heads, just below the valve cover. If you're replacing a left-side sensor, which is on the front cylinder bank, you need to drain the engine coolant, support the engine from below with a floor jack and block of wood, remove the engine mount strut and bracket, the radiator inlet hose, and the power steering reservoir bolts. Then, position the reservoir out of the way. Next, disconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector. After that, remove the CMP sensor mounting bolt, and remove the sensor. Installation is the reverse of removal. Finally, refill the cooling system if it was drained.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist

- A:To remove the 3.4L V6 engine, start by removing the air intake duct and disconnecting the CMP sensor electrical connector. Then, remove the mounting bolt and the CMP sensor. For installation, simply reverse the removal steps. The 3.0L and 3.6L V6 engines have four camshaft sensors. If replacing the CMP sensor on the right side, remove the air filter housing. For the left side replacement on 2013 and later 3.6L models, remove the front engine mount. Disconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector and remove the mounting bolt and the CMP sensor. Installation is the reverse of removal. The 2.4L four-cylinder engine has two camshaft sensors, the intake camshaft position sensor located below the fuel pump and the exhaust camshaft sensor located at the corner of the cylinder head above the exhaust manifold. To remove the intake camshaft position sensor, remove the fuel pump cover, disconnect the electrical connector, and remove the mounting bolt and the sensor from the cylinder head.
