- A:To remove the 2.0L turbocharged engine's knock sensor, start by turning off the ignition key and raising the front of the vehicle, securely supporting it on jackstands. If you're removing the front sensor, remove the alternator, and if you're removing the rear sensor, remove the starter motor. Disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector and remove the knock sensor retaining bolt, followed by the knock sensor itself. For installation, simply reverse the removal steps and tighten the knock sensor retaining bolt to the specified torque. For the 2.0L supercharged engine and 2.2L & 2.4L engines, start by removing the starter motor, then disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector. Unscrew the knock sensor retaining bolt and remove the knock sensor. - A:To remove the knock sensor, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. If you're working on a 3.0L or 3.6L V6 model, remove the starter motor. For 2013 and later 3.6L models, the left-side knock sensor is located between the oil filter and the starter motor. If you're removing a knock sensor from the rear of the engine, remove the right catalytic converter. Next, disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector. Finally, unscrew the knock sensor retaining bolt and detach the sensor from the engine block.
