Transfer the upper mount to the new shock absorber, tightening the nut to the proper torque specifications.

To remove the front strut, start by loosening the lug nuts on the front wheels and raising the vehicle securely on jackstands. Remove the wheels and detach the stabilizer bar link, ABS wheel speed sensor harness, and brake hose from the strut. Mark the relationship of the strut to the knuckle for proper installation. Remove the strut-to-knuckle nuts and bolts, separating the strut from the steering knuckle while supporting the lower control arm. Support the strut and spring assembly and remove the upper mounting nut or bolts. Inspect the strut body for damage and the coil spring and spring seat for any issues. If necessary, proceed to the strut disassembly procedure. To install the strut, guide the assembly into the fender well and tighten the nuts or bolts to the specified torque. Slide the steering knuckle into the strut flange, align the marks made earlier, and tighten the nuts. Install the wheels, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts. Finally, have the front wheel alignment checked and adjusted if needed.

The strut and spring assembly should be removed and the strut clevis bracket portion should be mounted in a vise. A spring compressor should be installed to relieve pressure from the upper spring seat, following the instructions of the tool manufacturer.
