    Q:
How to remove and replace the Starter Solenoid unit on a Chevrolet Caprice? Posted by Customer
    A:
After removing the starter solenoid unit, disconnect the connector strap from the solenoid terminal. Next, remove the two screws securing the solenoid housing to the end-frame assembly. Twist the solenoid clockwise to disengage the flange key and withdraw it. Remove the nuts and washers from the solenoid terminals, unscrew the two retaining screws and washers for the end-cover, and pull off the end-cover. Unscrew the nut washer from the battery terminal on the end-cover and remove the terminal, followed by the removal of the resistor bypass terminal and contactor. Replace the motor connector strap terminal by soldering a new terminal in position, then use a new battery terminal and install it to the end-cover along with the bypass terminal and contactor. Reinstall the end-cover and the remaining terminal nuts. Finally, install the solenoid to the starter motor, ensuring the return spring is in position on the plunger, insert the solenoid body into the drive housing, and turn it counterclockwise to engage the flange key before securing it with the two screws and connecting the connector strap.

    Q:
How to remove and install a Starter Solenoid in a starter motor on Pontiac Fiero? Posted by Customer
    A:
The cable should be disconnected from the battery's negative terminal. The starter motor should be removed. That strap has to be disconnected from the solenoid to the starting motor (M) terminal. The solenoid is then unscrewed from the starter motor using two screws. The solenoid should then be twisted clockwise to disengage its flange from the starter body (Solenoid housing removal is done by twisting it clockwise). Installation includes ensuring that the return spring is on the plunger, then inserting the solenoid body into starter housing and turning its flange so as to engage it in a counterclockwise manner. Last, but not least, put in place two solenoids' screws and connect them with a motor strap.

How to remove and install Starter Solenoid on Pontiac Grand Prix? Posted by Customer
    A:
Pull the negative cable off the battery. Caution: For cars fitted with the Theftlock device, do not disconnect the battery until you disable the lockout feature. Note: The 3.4L 1996 models and all those produced from 1998 onwards will have non-serviceable starter solenoids. If it goes bad, replace the whole starter. Take out the starter motor. Take strap off solenoid to starter motor terminal. Remove screws that hold solenoid to starter motor. Turn solenoid clockwise to disconnect flange from starter body. Reverse these steps to install.
