On carbureted models and models with throttle body injection, the PCV valve threads into the intake manifold and is connected by a rubber hose to the camshaft cover. On models with sequential multiport fuel injection, the PCV hose connects the camshaft cover to the air intake plenum. The PCV valve is installed in the camshaft cover. To check a PCV valve, unscrew it from the manifold or pull it out of the camshaft cover, start the engine and, with the engine idling, plug the open end of the valve with your finger and verify that there is vacuum. If there isn't, replace the PCV valve. Loosen the clamps securing the hose to the PCV valve and to the camshaft cover and then disconnect the hose from the valve. Unscrew the valve from the intake manifold or pull it out of the camshaft cover. When purchasing a replacement PCV valve, make sure it's the correct one for your vehicle. Compare the old valve with the new one to make sure they're the same. On carbureted models and models with throttle body injection, screw the new valve into the manifold and connect the hose to it. On models with sequential multiport fuel injection, attach the valve to the hose, secure it with the hose clamp and then push the valve into its grommet in the camshaft cover.
