Q:
How do you remove the front shock module and Coil Springs from Chevrolet Trailblazer and Buick Rainier? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the shock module from the vehicle, start by checking for any obvious damage such as leaking fluid, dents, cracks, or damage to the coil spring or spring seats. If individual components need to be replaced, make sure to check the availability and price of parts or consider a completely rebuilt unit. Next, remove the pinch bolt securing the yoke to the shock module and carefully take off the yoke. Use a spring compressor to relieve pressure from the shock absorber and then unscrew the nut from the top. Finally, remove the upper mounting plate, spring, and lower mounting plate. To install the shock module, reassemble it by following the reverse order of the disassembly procedure. Tighten the nut on the top of the shock absorber to the specified torque. Release the tension of the spring compressor and remove it from the spring. Install the yoke on the bottom of the shock module and tighten the pinch bolt and nut to the specified torque. Finally, install the shock module back into the vehicle.
