Lightly lubricate the strut rod and bumpers with silicone oil or white lithium grease. Then, install the lower spring seat, bump stop, dust boot, spring, and upper mount seat in that order.

Check the shock body for leaking fluid, dents, cracks, and other damage. Check the coil spring for chips or cracks in the spring coating and inspect the spring seat for cuts, hardness, and deterioration.

Remove the wheel and support the rear lower control arm with a floor jack.

Raise the vehicle and inspect the struts and shock absorbers for any signs of fluid leakage or damage. Ensure they are securely mounted and undamaged, and replace them as a set if necessary. Visually inspect the steering and suspension components for any damage, distortion, leaks, or worn seals, boots, and bushings. Examine the control arm bushings and check for movement at the steering knuckle-to-control arm balljoint. Replace the balljoint if there is any movement. Finally, check for play in the steering system components by pushing and pulling on the front tires and inspect the tie-rod ends for looseness or wear.
