- A:To remove the strut, start by loosening the wheel lug nuts and raising the vehicle on jackstands. Remove the wheel and disconnect the stabilizer bar link, brake hose bracket, and ABS harness connector. Mark the relationship of the strut to the knuckle and remove the strut-to-knuckle nuts. Separate the strut from the steering knuckle, supporting the lower control arm if necessary. Support the strut and spring assembly and remove the upper mounting nuts. Inspect the strut body, coil spring, and spring seat for any damage or deterioration. If necessary, proceed to the strut disassembly procedure. To install the strut, guide the assembly into the fender well and insert the upper mounting studs. Slide the steering knuckle into the strut flange and insert the bolts. Reattach the brake hose bracket, reconnect the stabilizer bar link, and reconnect the ABS harness connector. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts.
