To remove the driveaxle, mount it in a vise with wood-lined jaws to prevent damage. Check the CV joint for excessive play and smooth operation. If the boot is torn, disassemble the joint, clean the components, and inspect for damage. Pry the retaining tabs on the clamps to loosen them and remove them. Carefully pry the outer boot away from the CV joint and pull the inner boot back. Mark the tripod and axleshaft for reassembly. Remove the tripod joint snap-ring and the inner stop-ring. If necessary, cut off the boots and remove the clamp for the dynamic damper. To check, clean all components and inspect for wear. If the inner CV joint is worn, install a new one on the old axleshaft. If the outer CV joint is worn, purchase a new one and axleshaft. To reassemble, wrap the splines on the axleshaft with electrical tape and slide the clamps and CV Boot(s) onto it. Place the inner stop-ring and tripod on the shaft, aligning the marks. Pack the CV joint(s) with grease and apply some to the inside of the CV Boot(s). Insert the tripod into the housing and pack the remaining grease around it. Slide the CV Boot into place, ensuring both ends seat in their grooves. Equalize the pressure in the CV Boot and tighten the clamps.

Rock the steering wheel gently back and forth with the wheels on the ground.
