Q:
How do you remove the rear brake shoe assembly on Chevrolet Blazer,S10,GMC Jimmy and Sonoma? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the rear brake shoe assembly, start by loosening the lug nuts on the rear wheels and raising the vehicle. Securely place it on jackstands and remove the wheels. Then, take off the rear brake calipers and discs. Slide the parking brake shoe assembly straight down to remove it. For installation, lubricate the shoe guide pads with high-temperature grease and install the new shoe assembly. Repeat these steps for the other side. After that, install the brake discs and calipers. Finally, put the rear wheels back on, remove the jackstands, and lower the vehicle. Make sure to tighten the wheel lug nuts to the proper torque specifications.

Q:
How to Inspect and Adjust Brake shoe on Chevrolet Blazer,S10,GMC Jimmy and Sonoma? Posted by Customer
A:
To begin, loosen the wheel lug nuts and raise the rear of the vehicle, securely supporting it on jackstands. Block the front wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Remove the rear wheels and then the brake drum. If the drum is stuck due to corrosion, apply penetrating oil and tap around the studs and flange to break it loose. If the drum is locked onto the shoes, use a screwdriver to push the actuator lever off the star adjuster and back off the adjuster wheel. Clean the brake assembly with brake system cleaner. Clean and inspect the brake drum for any damage or wear. Repeat these steps for the other rear brake assembly. Install the brake drums and adjust the shoes so they slightly drag on the drums. Install the rear wheels, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts. Check the brake pedal position and adjust further if necessary. Finally, test the brakes for proper operation before driving in traffic.
