- A:To remove the brake caliper, start by loosening the wheel lug nuts and raising the vehicle with jackstands. Once secure, remove the wheels. Next, remove the banjo fitting bolt and disconnect the brake hose from the caliper, discarding the sealing washers. Plug the brake hose to prevent contamination and fluid loss. If the caliper is being removed for access to another component, hang it securely with wire. On CTS-V models, remove the caliper-to-steering knuckle bolts (front) or caliper-to-rear knuckle bolts (rear) and detach the caliper from the knuckle. To install the caliper, reverse the removal procedure, using new sealing washers and tightening the mounting bolts to the specified torque. Finally, bleed the brake circuit, check for leaks, and test the brakes before returning the vehicle to normal service.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
