Q:
How do you remove the steering column for Buick Enclave,Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the steering column, start by parking the vehicle with the wheels pointing straight ahead and locking the steering in place to prevent damage to the airbag clockspring. Then, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Next, remove the steering wheel, left side under-dash panel, driver's knee bolster, steering column covers, instrument cluster bezel, and steering column housing cover. Disconnect all electrical connectors from the steering column components and remove the lower steering column brace bolts and bracket if necessary. Remove the intermediate steering shaft upper pinch bolt and disconnect the shaft from the steering column, being careful not to pull the lower seal away from the body panel. Finally, remove the steering column mounting fasteners and remove the column from under the instrument panel. To install the steering column, position it in the vehicle and finger tighten the steering column nuts and bolts. Push the steering column flush against the instrument panel carrier and hand-tighten the fasteners, starting with the nuts and then the bolts. Connect the intermediate shaft to the steering column, install a new pinch bolt, and tighten it to the specified torque. Check that the shaft seal is seated correctly and make any necessary adjustments. If there is a support bracket, reinstall it and tighten the bolts securely. If the vehicle has a telescopic/tilt steering column, calibration of the steering module may be necessary. The remaining steps for installation are the reverse of the removal process.

Q:
How to Remove and Install Column Cover and Steering Column on Buick Enclave,Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the column cover, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, remove the screws from the bottom of the lower cover and pry the upper cover up until it unclips from the lower cover. Next, remove the small trim from around the ignition lock and finally remove the covers. To install the column cover, simply follow the reverse steps of the removal process. Additionally, to remove the housing cover, begin by removing the steering wheel and the steering column multi-function switches. Then, remove the knee bolster and the fasteners securing the housing cover. After that, remove the ignition switch housing and finally remove the housing cover. To install the housing cover, just reverse the steps of the removal process.
