To remove the air conditioning system, start by discharging it with the help of an automotive air conditioning technician. For 2015 and earlier 2.0L models and all 2.5L models, remove the headlight housings, front bumper cover, bumper impact bar, radiator upper and side air deflector plastic push-pins, air deflectors, upper and lower refrigerant line nuts, and the air conditioning refrigerant pressure sensor. Make sure to discard the old sealing O-rings and plug all open lines and fittings. Disengage the left and right radiator support brackets and lift the condenser off the radiator. For 2016 and later 1.5L and 2.0L models, remove the front bumper cover, upper shutter assembly (if equipped), lower shutter harness retainer, lower air baffle assembly, plastic push-pin fasteners for the radiator upper air baffle assembly, hood release cable, and fasteners for the radiator air upper baffle assembly. Disconnect the refrigerant lines from the condenser and the air conditioning refrigerant pressure sensor connector. On 2019 and later models, push the transaxle auxiliary cooler inlet line in slightly and disconnect the transaxle cooler fluid line if equipped. Finally, remove the condenser from the vehicle, being careful not to damage the fins, and discard the sealing washers. When installing, lubricate the new O-rings with compatible refrigerant oil and use new sealing washers for the refrigerant lines. Finally, have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested by the shop that discharged it.
