- A:To remove the shift lever assembly, start by setting the parking brake and chocking the wheels. Then, remove the components of the upper bezel and floor console to expose the shift lever assembly. Disconnect the shift cable end from the ball of the shift lever arm by prying it away from the arm. Unclip the shift cable housing from the shift lever bracket. Next, remove the nuts and bolts attaching the shift lever assembly to the center console structure. Disconnect any electrical connectors for the shift lever assembly. Finally, remove the shift lever assembly. To install the shift lever assembly, simply follow the reverse steps of the removal process.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
