- Q:How to remove the alternator from a Pontiac G6? Posted by Customer
- A:Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal. Remove the drivebelt. If you're working on a four-cylinder model, remove the air intake duct and the upper radiator hose. Disconnect the electrical connector from the alternator. To disconnect the electrical connector from the alternator on a four-cylinder engine, pry up the release tab and pull the connector straight out. On 3.6L models, remove the drivebelt idler pulley. Remove the alternator mounting bolts, then lift it out of the engine compartment. To remove the alternator from a four-cylinder engine, remove these three mounting bolts. To remove the alternator from a V6 engine, disconnect the electrical connector and the battery cable from the alternator, remove the front mounting bolt, then remove the two rear mounting bolts (one bolt not visible). It will take some maneuvering to get it out on 3.6L models.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
