To remove the door latch, first raise the window and remove the door trim panel. Then, remove the screws securing the latch to the door. Through the large access hole, position the latch to disengage the outside door handle, outside lock cylinder, and inside handle rods. Also, disengage the door lock actuator rod and remove the latch assembly from the door. To remove the door lock cylinder and outside handle, raise the window and remove the door trim panel and water shield. Through the access hole, disconnect the electrical connector and disengage the latch rod from the lock cylinder clip. Remove the lock cylinder retaining nuts and the lock cylinder itself. Alternatively, on later models, remove the outside handle, then remove the nuts and detach the lock cylinder. Use a socket and extension to remove the outside door handle retaining nuts or bolts, and push up on the retaining tabs (if equipped) to remove the outside handle. To remove the inside handle, remove the door trim panel and water shield, and detach the actuating rods from the handle. On early models, remove the bolts and nuts or drill out the rivets securing the inside handle. On later models, push the actuator handle towards the end of the door to disengage it, then push on the handle mount in the same direction to slide it off the bracket on the inner door. Installation for all components is the reverse of removal.
