    Q:
How to adjust the Headlight on Chevrolet C1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
It is very important that the headlights of your car are correctly adjusted as an incorrect adjustment could blind a driver going in the opposite direction and cause a dangerous accident or impair you from seeing properly down the road. The headlights must be checked for proper aim every year and whenever a new light is installed or body work is performed on the front end. It should also be noted that this procedure serves only as a temporary measure towards adjusting the headlights until they can be readjusted professionally by using correct facilities. There are two spring-loaded adjusting screws on each headlight, one to control up-and-down movement and another to control left-to-right movement. Adjusting these lights can be done in several ways but the simplest method involves a level floor and an empty wall space 25 feet away from your car. The wall position of the masking tape will depend on its centerline, vehicle centerline and both headlights' centerlines. All headlamp center lines require a horizontal tape line to be positioned. Sometimes it may be easier to put tape on such walls with the vehicle just inches away from it. Changes should not be made if there is no change of gas tank content, vehicle loads heavier than normal, or if cars are parked completely leveled on flat ground. For low beams positioning adjustment, move high intensity zone two inches below horizontal line and two inches to right of headlight vertical line. Top adjustment screw can either raise or lower beams by turning it clockwise or anticlockwise respectively while side adjustment screw moves beams leftwards or rightwards in much the same way also. When using high beams only, high intensity zone should align with exact center immediately beneath horizontal line. It may not always be possible to obtain correct headlight aim for both high and low beam settings. If you need to compromise somewhere, bear in mind that low beams have greater effect on driver safety as well as being most used ones. Have your dealer's service department adjust them as soon as possible or take them to a service station.

    Q:
How to remove and install headlight on Chevrolet K1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the bezel retaining screws, taking care not to disturb the adjustment screws. Pull the sealed beam unit forward and disconnect the plug from the rear. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure the number molded into the face of the lens is at the top. For the composite type, remove the grille. Remove the four screws from the headlamp assembly. Pull the headlamp assembly forward to access the bulbs. Unplug the electrical connector. Twist the bulb and lock ring counter-clockwise, and pull the bulb and holder assembly out of the headlamp assembly. Be sure to replace the high beam bulb assembly with another high beam assembly, and the low beam bulb assembly with another low beam assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal.
