Mark or note the hose orientation and routing so the new hose is installed the same way. 8. Twist while pulling to remove the hose from fittings; use a small amount of penetrating spray only if the hose is stuck and avoid prying on plastic components. 9. Inspect the attached fittings and the PCV/valve-cover ports for damage, clogging, or oil residue and clean as needed. Installation: 1. Verify the replacement hose matches the original in length and shape; variations may exist. 2. Clean and dry the mating fittings and ports before assembly. 3. If a PCV valve or inline fitting was removed, install or replace it as required and ensure it seats properly. 4. Lightly lubricate the hose ends with clean engine oil to aid installation (do not use solvents that can degrade the hose). 5. Route the new hose along the original path, keeping it clear of hot exhaust parts, sharp edges, and moving components. 6. Push the hose fully onto each fitting and position clamps correctly; use new clamps if possible and tighten snugly without overtightening. 7. Reinstall any removed engine covers or components and confirm the hose is free of kinks and stress. 8. Reconnect the negative battery terminal. 9. Start the engine, let it idle, and check for vacuum or oil leaks and for normal idle quality; if a problem appears, shut off and re-check connections. 10. Repair tip: replace worn clamps and inspect adjacent vacuum lines while accessible to prevent repeat failures.
