- A:To remove and install the exhaust manifold on various engines, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable and removing the necessary components such as the air cleaner, exhaust crossover pipe, and catalytic converter. Support the engine cradle and remove the remaining exhaust manifold bolts. Clean the gasket mounting surfaces before installing the new manifold and reconnecting the necessary components. For the 4.6L engine, additional steps include removing the radiator cover panel, engine cooling fans, and motor mount and bracket. The exhaust manifold can then be removed and replaced, along with the gasket and oxygen sensor.
