To remove the front brake pads, start by removing the brake fluid reservoir cap, then loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands, and block the wheels at the opposite end. Remove the wheels and inspect the brake disc. Use a C-clamp to push the piston back into its bore, taking care not to overflow the master cylinder with rising fluid. Prior to disassembly, clean the brakes with brake cleaner. To remove the caliper, extract the bolts without unscrewing them entirely and hang the caliper from the strut coil spring with wire to avoid stressing the brake hose. Remove the outer and inner shims and brake pads. Inspect and replace the upper and lower pad support plates if damaged, and transfer the wear indicator if equipped. For installation, install the support plates, new inner brake pad, shims, and the outer pad, ensuring proper engagement. Clean and apply high-temperature grease to the sliding pins, then install them. Tighten the caliper bolts to specified torque, and if needed, use a C-clamp to ease caliper installation. After securing the caliper, depress the brake pedal, check brake fluid, tighten wheel lug nuts, and test brake operation before normal use. For rear disc brake pad removal, start by removing the clip and two anti-rattle springs, then use needle-nose pliers to pull out the two pad retaining pins and the inboard brake pad from the caliper, removing the anti-squeal shim. For installation, prepare the new inboard brake pad with a small amount of silicone-based grease and install the anti-squeal shim. Position the new inboard brake pad into the caliper, then pull out the outboard brake pad and remove its anti-squeal shim. Prepare the new outboard brake pad with grease and install the shim, then position the new outboard brake pad into the caliper. Install the two pad retaining pins into the caliper, along with the clip and two anti-rattle clips. After completing the job, depress the brake pedal, check brake fluid, tighten wheel lug nuts, and test brake operation before returning the vehicle to normal service.
