Q:
How do you remove the knock sensor on the Chevrolet Cobalt,HHR and Saturn ION? Posted by Customer
A:
To remove the 2.0L turbocharged engine's knock sensor, start by turning off the ignition key and raising the front of the vehicle, securely supporting it on jackstands. If you're removing the front sensor, remove the alternator, and if you're removing the rear sensor, remove the starter motor. Disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector and remove the knock sensor retaining bolt, followed by the knock sensor itself. For installation, simply reverse the removal steps and tighten the knock sensor retaining bolt to the specified torque. For the 2.0L supercharged engine and 2.2L & 2.4L engines, start by removing the starter motor, then disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector. Unscrew the knock sensor retaining bolt and remove the knock sensor. Installation is the reverse of removal, with the knock sensor retaining bolt tightened to the specified torque.
