    Q:
How to check the fuse on Buick Rainier? Posted by Customer
    A:
The vehicle's electrical circuits are protected by fuses, circuit breakers, and fusible links. The main fuse/relay panel is in the engine compartment, while the rear fuse/relay panel is under the left rear seat. Each fuse protects a specific circuit, and the panel identifies the circuits. There are small, medium, and large fuses with the same blade terminal design. Medium and large fuses can be removed by hand, while small fuses require pliers or a fuse-puller tool. Check the fuse first if an electrical component fails, using a test light to check for power. If power is present on one side of the fuse but not the other, the fuse is blown. Blown fuses can also be visually inspected. Replace blown fuses with the correct type and rating. Fusible links are used in unfused circuits like the alternator circuit. The fusible link for the alternator circuit is in the wire from the battery to the alternator and is easily identifiable. Fusible links cannot be repaired, but a new link of the same size wire can be installed by cutting out the damaged link, stripping the insulation, twisting and soldering the wires together, and using electrical tape to cover the joint. Connect the negative battery cable and test the circuit for proper operation.

    Q:
How do circuit breakers work, and what should be done if one fails for the 2017 GMC Acadia? Posted by Customer
    A:
Circuit breakers protect specific circuits like power windows and power seats. They reset automatically, so if there is an electrical overload, the circuit will momentarily fail and then come back on. If the circuit does not come back on, it should be checked immediately. Using a voltmeter, each end prong of the circuit breaker should be tested for battery voltage with the negative lead on a good chassis ground. If there is battery voltage only at one end, the circuit breaker needs to be replaced.
