- A:The power brake booster assembly is located in the engine compartment on the driver's side firewall. The brake master cylinder is attached to the front of it. Remove the brake master cylinder. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the booster assembly. Move to the inside of the car and disconnect the pushrod from the top of the brake pedal. Still inside the car, remove the four nuts which secure the booster assembly to the firewall. Move back to the engine compartment and pull the booster assembly away from the firewall until the studs clear. Remove the assembly from the engine compartment. It is advisable to purchase a rebuilt assembly as a replacement unit. Apply silicone sealer to the firewall where the booster assembly fits against it. Place the booster assembly in position and secure it with the four nuts and washers. Attach the pushrod to the brake pedal. Connect the vacuum hose to the nipple on the shell of the assembly and tighten the clamp. Install the brake master cylinder. Bleed the brake system. Check for proper operation of the power brakes with the engine running.Posted by GMPartsGiant Specialist
