About Satrun LW2

Saturn LW2 is a mid-size vehicle manufactured by the Saturn Corporation, the subsidiary of General Motors Company from 1999 to 2000. The first Saturn LW2 was introduced in 2000 along with the Saturn LW1 as a front-wheel drive 4-door station wagon that could accommodate five passengers (including the driver). It was also a member of the great Saturn L-Series, which is Saturn's first try moving up to mid-size market segment from compact vehicle segment. Saturn LW2 basically was alike the Saturn LW1 except that it was more powerful.
When the Saturn LW2 was first released, its powerful V6 engine had separated itself from the Saturn LW1, but the V6 was not the only difference. Besides the standard equipment such as power windows, front air conditioning with manual mode, AM/FM stereo, Keyfob (all doors) remote keyless entry, heated mirrors, premium cloth seat trim, Saturn LW2 was also equipped with fog lights, anti-lock brakes with traction control, front-impact airbags to protect head during frontal crash and an ignition disable device that would prevent the engine from starting if the correct original manufacturer key is not used. And Saturn LW2 was powered by the 3.0 L V6 engine that could produce 182 horsepower and 190 pound feet of torque, and this engine was mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Saturn LW2 Common Problems & Maintenance Tips

As a station wagon, Saturn LW2 is quite popular among families. So, for your families' safety, you have the responsibility to know how to diagnose and solve common problems on it before any hazard incidents happen:
First, engine performance suffered. Though it is an irreversible process of engine performance reduced, you can slow down its wearing process. Some Saturn LW2 drivers put forward that some auto parts in it once start to wear, problem such as engine misfiring, excessively noisy engine, decrease in power, acceleration, and fuel economy as well as burning smell coming from the engine bay would arise. If you also find the Check Engine Light comes on, the LW2 suffers from hard starting or no starting, engine overheating due to leaking coolant, then besides the LW2 exhaust valve gasket, LW2 ignition coil, you had better also get the LW2 coolant hose checked thoroughly as well.
Second, suspension failure. A well-functioned suspension system could not only contribute to the vehicle's handling and braking for good active safety and driving pleasure but also keep occupants comfortable and a ride free from road noise, bumps and vibrations. However, according to Saturn LW2 owners, suspension system in the vehicle is vulnerable. They stated that the abnormal tire wear making the vehicle tending to tilt to one side, the grinding or roaring noises coming from the tire area, vibrating steer wheel making harder to control the vehicle so does the additional play in the wheel. LW2 wheel bearing, LW2 coil springs, and LW2 sway bar bushing are what you should pay more attention to.
For your Saturn LW2's sake, you have to practice routine maintenance and keep a close eye on some auto parts that are more likely to wear and tear due to its fragile components or harsh working conditions. Windshield wiper or wiper blade is often made of elastic rubbers and works under adverse weather conditions such as heavy rain or snow, rubbers can be worn out easily if being exposed to water, wind or other external forces for long time. So, once you find it could not clean your LW2 windscreen completely, get it replaced. Cabin air filter, fog light, headlight should also get changed regularly.
