How to remove and replace the front crankshaft seal in V6 engine on 1986 Chevrolet Caprice?

Remove the timing chain cover. Using a punch, drive out the old oil seal and shedder by pushing from the front toward the rear of the timing chain cover. Coil the new oil seal packing around the opening with the ends of the packing at the top, then drive in the new shedder using a punch, staking it in place in at least three locations. Rotate the handle of a hammer or equivalent tool to size the packing until the balancer hub can be inserted through the opening. Finally, re-install the timing chain cover.
