- Q:Why is it crucial for headlights to be aimed correctly, and how should the adjustment process be conducted on 1991 Chevrolet Metro?Posted by Kayle L.A:This makes it extremely important for headlights to be properly aligned to avoid causing inconvenience and or accidents to other road users and to maximize on reflects on the same road. Before the 12 months or if there is replacement of the head light or front end body work there should be checks for proper aim. The adjustment process involves two screws: One wheel is used at the top for the up and down movement and the other is used on the side for side to side movement. One of the easiest way in the adjustment process entails the use of a backdrop placed twenty-five feet apart from the car and in a plains area. For better positioning, there should be vertically set masking tapes on the wall which should parallel with the center of both headlights; also a horizontal masking tape line should also be drawn. The car should be in a flat surface, the tank should be half filled with gas and do not put much weight on the car. Low beam adjustment requires the high-intensity zone to be set with two inches below the horizontal line and two inches to the right of the vertical line and the adjustment is made by turning the bottom screw to raise or lower the beam while the side screw adjusts for the left or right movement. When the high beam is on, the high beam illumination region ought to be at the middle of the lower horizontal line. For the high and low beams it may not be possible to get the two to work in complete harmony so it is highly important for the low beams.
