To remove the knock sensors, first disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal and raise the vehicle, supporting it securely on jackstands while removing the engine compartment under-cover. For V6 engines, to access the Bank 1 knock sensor, remove the alternator, and for the Bank 2 knock sensor, remove the power steering pump and bracket. On other V6 engines, the Bank 1 knock sensor is located on the right side of the engine block below the exhaust manifold, and the Bank 2 knock sensor is on the left side in front of the starter. Disconnect the electrical connector from the knock sensor, then remove the bolt in the center and take out the sensor. For 5.7L V8 engines, remove the intake manifold, detach the grommets from the valley cover, disconnect the electrical connectors from the knock sensors, and remove the wiring harness before unscrewing the sensors from the engine block. In 6.0L and 6.2L V8 engines, the Bank 1 knock sensor is on the left side in front of the oil filter housing, while the Bank 2 sensor is on the right side in front of the starter. Disconnect the electrical connector, remove the bolt, and take out the knock sensor. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring to tighten the knock sensor bolt to the specified torque.
