  Q: How to remove and install Ignition Lock Cylinder on Cadillac ElDorado and Fleetwood?

  A: When working on Supple-mental inflatable Restraint (SIR) system components or wiring, make sure that the SIR system is off. By doing so, you will prevent impossible airbag deployment, unwanted SIR system repairs or any form of personal injury. For Deville, Fleetwood, Eldorado and Seville, disable the SIR system by disconnecting the negative battery cable, turning the ignition switch OFF, removing the SIR fuse, removing the left lower sound insulator and detaching the yellow 2-way connector at the base of the steering column. At this point remove the Steering Wheel and Turn Signal Switch before finally taking out key from lock cylinder and removing buzzer switch assembly; reinsert key in lock cylinder then turn to lock position. Remove lock retaining screw and lock cylinder. For vehicles equipped with pass-key lock cylinder, follow removal steps specific for it. Follow specific steps for your vehicle model to install. Enable SIR system after installation by connecting yellow 2-way connector at base of steering column, installing left lower sound insulator, installing SIR fuse ,connecting negative battery cable ,and turning ignition switch to RUN . Make sure that "INFLATABLE RESTRAINT" indicator light flashes off after flashing 7-9 times. Should this not happen as required by specification there is a fault in the SIR system.
