  A: Loosen the lug nuts, remove wheels and lift the front end of the car onto jackstands in order to examine brake system. Put wheel back on and tighten the lugnuts to secure disk. After you have finished, ensure that caliper is far away from it by hanging with a wire. Take a close look at the disc surface for any signs indicating that it has been hit or damaged before, as well as test for its run out using dial indicator. The rotor may require resurfacing by an automotive machine shop if necessary. Besides, check whether the rotor thickness is within limits of specified minimum thicknesses set by manufacturer. To remove unbolt caliper mounting bracket, remove lug nuts and then take off disk from hub. If you are removing rear disc also disconnect caliper mounting bracket from rear knuckle.
