Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the rear of the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands while blocking the front wheels to prevent rolling. Remove both rear wheels, then locate and unbolt the right and left brake line brackets from the frame, allowing the lines to hang freely. Place a floor jack under each trailing arm portion of the axle beam for support, remove both lower shock mounting bolts, and slowly lower the jacks until the coil springs are fully extended, ensuring the brake hoses do not get caught. Remove the coil springs, compression bumpers, and upper spring insulators, inspecting the rubber components for any cracks, hardening, or deterioration, replacing them if necessary. Position the compression bumpers on the lower spring pockets, place the coil springs on the axle assembly, and install the upper spring insulators on top of the springs, raising the axle and guiding the springs into place, possibly with the help of an assistant. If the upper spring insulators are difficult to keep in place, glue them to the contact area on the body with spray adhesive. Install the lower shock absorber mounting bolts, attach the brake line brackets to the frame, then install the wheels, lower the vehicle, and tighten the wheel lug nuts to the specified torque.
