Chevrolet Cobalt A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove an A/C Condenser on Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: Make sure all air-conditioning refrigerant has exited before you continue. Set the car on jackstands high enough to work underneath it, then hold it tightly in place. Take off the battery cable from the negative terminal end. Cut off the tubing that brings in and sends out cooling gas from the heat-exchanger unit. Detach the lower condenser-to-radiator bolts and carefully pull down on the condenser to free it from the clips locked to the radiator's top. Take the condenser down from under the hood, and plug the lines while you use it again. Keep it upright when stored to avoid draining oil out. Put exactly 0.75 ounces of correct type refrigerant oil into the new condenser before placing it, or you can use the same amount of oil from the old condenser in the new one. Installation is otherwise the reverse of removal. Take the system outside, charge it completely, then test for any leaks.
